Truly a great shop that is ground with years of tattooing experience. I love the fact that's it's generations of the art all within the same family. The other artists that work there and come in to do guest spots are equally talented. This is a shop you can walk into, be treated with respect and confidently acquire a piece of art of any style. That piece of art that they make for you will be admired by many for years to come. Ron and Dave's isn't just a tattoo shop. It's an Iconic place in the history of NYC tattooing. It's definitely somewhere to check out if you get a chance. Tell Dave, Chris and the crew I said hello. You won't be disappointed

This is one of the best places on Staten Island. I came in today for touch up work on an old tattoo, and Chris Lopez turned it into a masterpiece. This is my second time using Chris for some work and he is just phenomenal at what he does. Any idea you give him, he will out due your expectations. Thank you for the ink and look forward to my next appointment with him!

I have been getting tattooed by the Lopez family for over 15 years and always receive spectacular work. Dave and Chris are amazing artists, and the shop is super clean and top notch for comfort and atmosphere. The whole crew is made up of superior talent, and that also extends to their network of guest artists they sometimes have sitting in as well. Every customer gets superior attention and there is no doubting the level of professionalism and care given to the creation of each piece they do. I have referred family and friends to the shop and they have all left totally satisfied and have also become repeat customers. Even if you are feeling cautious or indecisive on what you want, do not hesitate to go in and speak with the crew. They will advise you honestly and work with you to create the perfect unique piece.

Lopez Family Tattooing since 1973

The year was 1973 and an 18 year old Ron Lopez was finally on his way (unknowingly at the time) to establishing one of the most recognizable family names in east coast american tattooing today. A self taught tattooer, Ron quickly developed a reputation for creating clean, solid tattoos in an efficient manner. This made him quite popular amongst tattoo collectors. There was only one problem at that time, tattooing in staten island NY had been banned as part of a city wide ordinance since 1961 stating that it was "unlawful for any person to tattoo a human being", so Ron decided to move his increasingly expanding business to Elizabeth NJ and opened Ron's Tattooing in 1986. It's proximity to Staten Island was ideal for his loyal client base as it was a quick hop, skip, and a jump over the Goethals Bridge and he no longer felt the pressures of working "underground". Clients came in droves to what is now the longest running (original owner) tattoo studio in Elizabeth NJ. This landmark (across from the white castle) is where both of Ron's sons, Chris and Dave, learned the craft from their father.    Ron’s Tattooing continues to operate a walk-in only business seven days a week at 607 westfield avenue Elizabeth NJ.

In 1997 the NYC ban on tattooing was lifted and the Lopez family decided it would be a good time to establish a second location in their hometown of Staten Island, this is when Ron and Dave's Tattooing was born. Ron and Dave's Tattooing was established on January 18, 1998 and proved to be a great success due to the fact that Ron had set the foundation years earlier by tattooing a very large amount of Staten Island residents.
